Sarah Palin's Autobiography "Going Rogue": The "Babygate Chronicles" Revealed! - Full Excerpts! UPDATE! NEW PAGES!

PART 1

Thanks to one of our readers, we now have access to a copy of "Going Rogue". So let's waste no time - and let's dive right into the parts which are particularly interesting for us.

Sarah Palin's first miscarriage - a very tragic event, but nonetheless, this event is of great importance when we consider it in relation to the rest of Sarah Palin's "babygate story". Sarah has included a very detailed description of her first miscarriage in "Going Rogue". Why has she chosen to do that? I honestly don't have an answer right now, but it could be to head off some controversial information which Sarah thinks is about to be released to the public realm sometime soon and in order to gain some sympathy for her "fate".

On pages 55-57, Sarah describes the events surrounding her first miscarriage. The Palins were "sure" that it would be another boy, and in classic Palin fashion, they decided to name him "Tad" ("a combination of Todd and Track").

She describes in great detail how at the "beginning of her second trimester", the doctor found out that the baby was not alive. Sarah writes:

I waited expectantly for the familiar shoosh-shoosh-shoosh sound of the baby's beating heart. But it didn't come. And the sonogram picture looked empty. The doctor said coldly, "There is nothing alive in there."

A few sentences later, Sarah describes how she had a D&C and then comes the strange episode with the "typo" we already discussed in the last post. Sarah reports:

When the doctor's bill arrived in our mailbox, it came with a typo. In the box describing the procedure, someone had typed "Abortion". Instead of starting over with a fresh form, they painted it over with a thin layer of Wite-Out, and retyped, "Miscarriage". For some reason it just felt like salt in the wound.

So what shall we think of all that? Is that even believable? In the discussion yesterday, several of our readers doubted that in such a bill Wite-Out would be used. It's the usual procedure to properly cross out wrong words in such documents and replace them, or to start a new form. I cannot find a final answer to this question right now, but the description of this event, just like many others parts in this book, has an "aura of uncredulity."

Read and judge for yourself. Here are the pages 55-57 (click to enlarge):

I will publish this part now, so that you the readers can already look over and discuss it. In the meantime, I will write the next part of my post.

In addition, please keep an eye on Celtic Diva's blog today - she will have some punchy things to say about Sarah Palin's view regarding the ethics complaints controversy. Having seen the material, I suspect that Celtic will have plenty to say. Celtic Diva has already published a snippet.

PART 2

UPDATE: THE STORY MOVES ON!

We have obtained the parts of "Going Rogue" in which Sarah Palin talks about her pregnancy with Trig. There is a surprise. After many months of silence and only very sporadic information regarding Sarah's pregnancy story, she now explains it all. Every little detail. Over about 10 long pages (wild ride not even included, this comes later - of course in every little detail, too). How she found out that she got pregnant with Trig, that they have always "dreamed of a big family", that Todd had always dreamed of "having another boy", how she prayed and...ehm...consulted God when there was a problem, how she

...remembered the Old Testament story of Isaac's parents. Yes Lord, I thought. My name is Sarah , but my husband isn't Abraham. His name is Todd!

The basic sequence of events:

1. Two weeks after Track took the oath as soldier in the US army on September 11, 2007, Sarah found out during an oil and gas conference in New Orleans that she was pregnant. She secretly bought a pregnancy test in New Orleans and then...

Slowly a pink image materialized on the stick. Holy geez!

The she explains that she was afraid of "the critics", her administration was making great progress and they were "on a roll", and...

I dreaded the reactions and comments from the Neanderthals who would think of this pregnancy as a distraction.

Sarah then thought that these were "less-than-ideal-circumstances" and goes on to say:

And for a split second it hit me: I'm out of town. No one knows I'm pregnant. No one would ever have known. It was a fleeting thought, a sudden understanding of why many women feel pressured to make "the problem" go away. Sad, I thought, that our society has elevated things like education and career above the gift of bringing new life into the world.

She she goes on about her pro-life values, cites the old Testament, didn't want to tell Todd on the phone, so she "concentrated instead on her role at the conference for the rest of the trip."

Sarah then mentions that she flew home, but missed Todd and only told him a few weeks later about the pregnancy - but leaves it open when exactly that was. Todd was "ecstatic". She then goes on to explain that they...

...kept the news to ourselves. We had always been private about our pregnancies.

"Later" (not specified) Sarah saw her doctor, Cathy Baldwin-Johnson at a Health Care Commission conference. Sarah then briefly explains how CBJ handled Sarah's second miscarriage, which Sarah had "between Willow and Piper". Sarah goes on to say:

At the health conference, I spotted CBJ and smiled at her when I slipped her a note on the way to the exit. I wrote: I need to come see you!

Then, about "twelve weeks along", comes the new sonogram story which Sarah first told in her speech in Wisconsin several days ago, but before that another novelty, because apparently CBJ explained to Sarah Palin even BEFORE the sonogram that she has an increased risk of Down Syndrome because of her age. But Sarah "wasn't worried", as she had "four perfectly healthy children", and goes on to say:

Besides, my sister Heather already had a special needs son, Karcher, who had autism. He was our family's angel boy. In our family, we always said God knew what he was doing when he gave Heather, the most nurturing of the Heath sisters, the child with special needs.

After lots of mentioning of "God" ("God is so good", "God would never give me anything I can't handle", "God knew me" etc.) CBJ apparently called her the next day and told her that there was a one-in-twelve chance that the baby had Down Syndrome as the result of the sonogram. Sarah then did the amnio apparently because she "wanted to be prepeared". Then, she got the results of the amnio THREE DAYS LATER, when CBJ called Sarah ("I still remember what time it was: 2:22 p.m.).

CBJ then gave Sarah the news about the Down Syndrome over the telephone, Sarah was "shocked beyond words" as a result and drove to Wasilla immediately, "gritting her teeth". Then somehow her thoughts turn to Coca-Cola commercials and The Star Spangled Banner, she asks God whether he "is listening"...and then unfortunately two pages of "Going Rogue" are missing in my collection, sorry!! So we will have to wait for the end of the story later. However, the "wild ride" will be discussed in a separate story.

So what to make of all of this?

Well - apart from the contradictions to earlier versions, which are quite easy to spot (especially to the speech in Indiana, when Sarah said that Todd didn't know of the pregnancy when the amnio was performed), there is only one thing I have to say:

ALL OF THIS IS INVENTED NONSENSE.

None of this ever happened. Sarah cannot produce a birth certificate or any kind of medical documentation that would support her pregnancy and therefore her only chance to make her story believable is to tell it in the greatest details possible. Because anyone who is not familiar with "babygate", and this would include almost all TV-anchors, talk-show hosts, journalists and the large majority of the population could only say one thing: That it's simply IMPOSSIBLE to make all this stuff up.

However, this is exactly what happened, and that's why reading this autobiography is one of the most disturbing experiences of my life: To see an insane, mentally ill mind in action is a truly surreal experience.

Needless to say that in all of these seven pages (two pages are missing so far, unfortunately) she didn't say a peep about the birth certificate. Why should she? The real birth certificate showing the wrong birth date collides with her warped version of reality, which is pure invention.

Sarah Palin was never pregnant with Trig.

Here are the pages which are available so far (please click to enlarge).

By the way, we are sharing these documents which Palingates has obtained with other Alaskan bloggers and authors, who are already putting them to good use. It feels nice to play "Fairy Godfather" sometimes...

ATTENTION VALLEY RESIDENTS

We keep hearing how scared people are to talk in Alaska. If at all possible, please, ask what they mean when someone talks this way.
"Has anyone heard something like this before? Does the flock think that someone bombed their church?"

"I live in the valley and - guess what? -- you just DON'T cross Sarah Palin."
Another scared Valley resident tells of knowing Dr. Baldwin-Johnson. The doctor is schizophrenic or Sarah Palin is a liar.

FOR MAT-SU VALLEY RESIDENTS We would like to know more about this bully and if the children are alright. THIS MAN IS A BIG BULLY.

"I would not stand up and cheer if Sarah Palin got cancer. Nor would I giggle about it, the way Sarah Palin did with Lyda Green."
Sarah continues to show how petty and unrelenting she is in her book. Sarah Palin's attitude toward Lyda seems to be typical of some of the bullies in the Valley.

Not all bullies are trolls

Wilbur, this is not about tearing Palin down. If she left politics, all of this will stop. But she isn't.
She has told so many lies. It hurts people! Her comments about health care are backwards! She keeps saying she's average main street. Well so am I and I can't stand her views! I feel like I am watching the Some TV show from the late 50s with her attitudes.
In her book she thanked the far right media for standing up to the idiots. So all people who have different beliefs about the world are idiots??? How can you be a leader in the US when you call over half the people idiots! How can you be a world leader but think other cultures ate heathens and idiots! I want leaders who respect all people.
She is letting others write Facebook posts for her bit she refuses to debate any issues!

I agree with the poster here who has has it with her and other right wing liars! I am so sick of them I could scream. Their attitudes about healthcare are despicable!! They only care about money and business and I am sick of it! And the people screaming about government health care are ignorant! Do you really think your insurance company wants to help you? If you have ever had an illness you know they don't. And I am tired of the anti governmen nonsense. They ARE the government! Why would we want a leader who hates her government.
I am all for suing! Anything to stop her and those line her from lies and more lies.

Ignore Jesse! He clearly doesn't care about the truth nor does he have good values. If he did, h would not be supporting a liar.

I am sick of the liars. The VALLEY RESIDENTS must rid their area of the bullies. They must feel free to speak again.

It is time for lawsuits. That is for certain.

"Total Fiction"

Palin is lying (shocker!) when she says they've "always been private" about their pregnancies. With EVERY pregnancy (except Trig, I wonder why) Sarah practically shouted from the rooftops that she was expecting. She wore obnoxiously obvious maternity garments which accentuated her belly. She constantly made comments about the baby kicking, keeping her up at night, sitting on her bladder, you name it. With Piper she went into total overdrive with all the cutesey stuff. And she certainly did not wait until the 5th month! Everyone up here was just waiting for Piper to be born because we we were just tired
of all the yakking about it! I remember a friend of mine who was sure the constant poking her belly out and ceaseless talking about the pregnancy (from the moment they found out- NOT from "five months"...in fact many people here thought her announcing the pregnancy in the 1st trimester was a horrible idea given that so many miscarriages happen before the 12th week) was the Palins' way of dropping hints for baby gifts. I however believed that Sarah just adored the attention that a cute little pregnant mayor commanded. After watching her on the national stage...I see that I was almost certainly correct.

Sam Stein and Lila Shapiro, you STILL do not understand! You wrote:

Palin writes with disgust that the "tone some reporters (and many bloggers) seemed to want to set was one of 'hypocrisy.'" Calling those who questioned the circumstances of her daughter's pregnancy "Trig truthers," she scoffs at the bloggers who, if they "weren't busy pushing fairy tales, would post threatening stories about any number of looming scandals that would drive me out of office."

It is the circumstances of Sarah Palin’s FAKED pregnancy that is the subject. We don’t question the circumstances of Bristol’s pregnancies. Trig is Sarah’s first grandson, not her fifth child by birth.

Slightly off topic. SP goes after the AK bloggers in her book for the Splitsville story. At the time she sicced Van Flein on Shannyn Moore and Gryphen. Well what headline did I just see in the National Enquirer? Todd's affair breaks Sarah's heart, $5M divorce. Think the Enquirer will get a threatening letter from Van Flein? Don't think so.

What's the ONE story she hasn't threatened anybody over? Babygate. She can deny Splitsville so long as she and Todd aren't divorced (even though we all know what living in separate houses means) This omission speaks volumes.

Anonymous said...

Prochoice,

If Sarah wrote that:

"calling those who questioned the circumstances of her daughter's pregnancy "Trig truthers,""

she has admitted that questioning the circumstances of her daughter's pregnancy is related to Trig.

Supposedly, her daughter gave birth to Trip, not Trig. So, anyone who questioned the circumstances of her daughter's pregnancy would not be questioning Trig, but Trip, right?

why does Palin make this equivocation? Did I miss something?

They say a liar will always give themselves away...

ProChoiceGrandma said...

Patrick, do you have the page where Sarah mentions "Trig Truthers"? I can hardly wait for that one! Hope that will be your next post!!!

Anon @ 04:27, that is why I pasted the paragraph written by Sam Stein and Lila Shapiro. I think it is their misinterpretation.

I'm not sure what a "nutritionist" would say, but as a Registered Dietitian I would like to give an opinion. SP was showing the classic symptoms of anorexia nervosa. Her extreme focus on food (or calorie free food) and exercise validate this. She may have been taking some supplements (e.g., vitamins and minerals), but the driving force was mental. A "nutritionist" would not have been much help except in the diagnosis. What she needed was a mental health expert.

In any therapy the first requisite is for acceptance of the need for therapy. Obviously this didn't happen.

I really hate to consider the tales from The Liar's Den, but somehow the truth is hidden between God and CBJ.

- A nameless Anchorage specialist performed an amniocentesis test on Trig's mother.

- Trig's faceless mother(not the Gov. of the state) goes in through the convenient back door.

- Trig's faceless mother gives an irrelevant name.

- The results of the test are given to the primary Dr.

- CBJ tells sarah Palin that THIS baby is going to be born with down syndrome.

It is unknown if CBJ called Trig's faceless mother with the news before calling the Governor.

More from Andrew Sullivan:

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/11/a-narrative-that-is-completely-false.html

"She is a deeply disturbed individual whose grip on reality is very weak, and whose self-awareness is close to nil. This much is not a leap, let alone unfair. It is simply unavoidable if one examines her surreal invention of reality - even when she must surely know that the evidence exists out there to contradict her.

As I have long noted, this is not the usual political mendacity and spin. It is far weirder and more disturbing than that. She creates her own reality. And the fact-indifferent, editor-free marketing company, HarperCollins, is only too willing to make some money off it."

Jesse Cornish is happily posting at C4P and now they are visiting this site to read the scanned pages of the book and then complaining how it might be a copyright violation (funny how they do that huh?).

Sarah is a born liar. She can't help it. It just is part and parcel of who and what she is. She feeds off attention. She craves being in the spotlight and will do everything in her power to stay there, playing the victim, telling lies. The lies she tells are so easily proven lies that it makes you wonder how in the world she got as far as she did.

The fact that she continues to lie, even when she is caught doing it, doesn't make a difference to her. Look at her behavior after the Troopergate investigation by the Alaska legislative investigation found her guilty. She just kept repeating the lie that she has been cleared of all wrongdoing, and no one did a thing about it. Not the media, nor the legislative powers that be in Alaska.

She gets away with her lies because people allow her to, and until she is held accountable, she will continue to lie and continue to get away with it.

I don't what happened with Palin's pregnancy which resulted in a D&C but as a physician I can tell you that using white-out to amend a medical record can result in a physician's license being yanked. Not to mention the serious medicolegal implications if that case were subsequently involved in a malpractice suit.

The only acceptable medicolegal way to amend a medical report is crossing through the mistake with ONE line (so that the underlying words are visible), writing the revision above it, initialing, and dating it. Period. All physicians are drilled about this in medical school.

Anonymous.. a blighted ovum does not end at 14, 15, or 16 weeks. It would never have developed past the first few weeks before the mother miscarried. Any fetus that died into the second trimester would have been formed and had a heartbeat (heartbeat starts about 18 days after conception). Palin either miscarried in the FIRST trimester or had an elective abortion in the SECOND trimester. This might have been because the fetus had died, but it would not have been a blighted ovum (or an empty womb) as she claimed.

Be careful what you wish for, what doesn't kill this woman will only make her stronger, underestimate her at your own expense.

When Palin first became Governor, my opinion was that she had lightweights running her media show.

I've not only been proven correct on my observation, I've been proven correct in spades, just witness Meg Stapleton.

If you would have told me a year ago that one year from now Sarah Palin would be writing a book entitled, "Going Rogue" and Levi Johnston (whom we still barely knew at that point) would be deemed a "Twunk" in Playgirl, I would have said that you're nuts.

The idea that Sara Palin received a bill from a hospital with a white out change in the procedure billed is patently ridiculous. First of all, nothing in medical records is ever--EVER--changed with white out. It raises questions of fraud and coverup. You draw a neat, single line through changes, write error and sign so there can be no question about what was there. This has been universal practice since at least the time of my first hospital job in 1985.

In 1990 when this allegedly happened, all hospitals were billing using integrated computerized billing programs to track accounts, generate HCFA forms for insurance claims and to generate patient account statements.

The doctor would enter information on the procedure into the patient's chart and the billing would be done by procedure code or "cpt" code (Current Procedural Terminology Code).

Billing clerks don't review bills and decide to change the procedure themselves. They bill the procedure designated by the doctor. If the doctor contacted billing after a bill had been generated in order to change it, the change would have had to be entered into the computer record and a new HCFA form printed along with a new patient statement. You can't just white out something on the bill.

Palin's claim is ludicrous if you know anything about medical practice and hospital practices in 1990. Her ridiculous story sounds more like medicine as it might have been practiced in 1940 rather than 1990.

I waited expectantly for the familiar shoosh-shoosh-shoosh sound of the baby's beating heart. But it didn't come. And the sonogram picture looked empty. The doctor said coldly, "There is nothing alive in there."

I'm a physician, and this is the silliest thing I've ever heard. First of all the sonogram wouldn't look empty, and how would Sarah know if it was? Does she know how to read sonograms? No doctor, not even one, would tell her that the sonogram looked empty, simply because that's not how it works. Sarah thinks that her uterus was like an empty house with all the furniture gone. Instead, think of Grand Central Station.

A few sentences later, Sarah describes how she had a D&C and then comes the strange episode with the "typo" we already discussed in the last post.

A D&C when you are pregnant is an abortion. There's no other term for it. Her story about the word "miscarriage" on the hospital bill would be silly as "miscarriage" is not a medical term - that's layperson speak.

There is no "native insurance". No, it couldn't have paid for a D&C. She isn't eligible for medical care herself at the local native clinic, they DO NOT provide any abortion services, whatsoever, not even referrals, and there are no financial resources for Natives.

Uh oh. Discrepancy alert!
The reference to Cathy Baldwin-Johnson at a Health Commmission conference - the Alaska Health Care Commission was established on December 4, 2008. Trig was 9 months old.

Cathy Baldwin-Johnson served on the Alaska Health Care Strategies Planning Council. The Council met once a month between Sept and Dec 2007, with a final meeting December 3rd, after which the Council was disbanded.
So, when was that Commission conference?

Should we expect a competent proactive governor writing her memoir to remember the difference between a planning council that her own doc serves on, and a formal state commission implemented a year later, that her doc didn't serve on?
Now there's real 'Presidential Material'...

Side bar -
Commissioner Karleen Jackson resigned May 8, 2008.
A letter in the Juneau Empire said:
"Karleen Jackson is one of the most ethical and otherwise estimable persons with whom I worked in my 30 years of service for the state. And she did not disappoint in this regard with her resignation.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Jackson said she came to the decision after a meeting on Monday with Gov. Sarah Palin.
"We had a little bit of a difference of opinion on how the department should move forward, so I offered my resignation after that conversation and after thinking about it for a while," Jackson said.

How refreshing. No "pining for the private sector." No baloney about "wanting to spend more time with the family." No leaks, spin, or pandering to favored press persons.

She disagreed with the governor about where the department should be going and she quit."
